The National staff A haul of 30,000 fake designer goods valued at Dh6 million has been seized in a raid by police on three flats in Abu Dhabi.

Items included handbags, watches, sunglasses, medicine, wallets, belts, shawls, ties, hats, pens, shoes, perfume and “sexual boosters”. They were in boxes with international brands and including fake guarantees.

Three Bangladeshis were arrested over the counterfeit items, which were stored in passageways and hidden behind shelving.

Lt Col Taher Al Dhaheri, chief of the organised crime section, said: “They have flouted public safety regulations and placed human lives in danger by storing the goods in the apartments, which could cause fires.”
