Abu Dhabi launches traffic campaign in labour camps

An initiative to determine which labour complexes are most committed to obeying traffic regulations in Abu Dhabi has been launched by the Traffic and Patrols directorate, in conjunction with the Higher Corporation for Specialised Economic Zones.

The organisers will review the safety standards applied in the transportation of workers, the traffic regulations adopted inside the camps and the number of traffic awareness hours offered to workers, Col Hamad Nasser Al Baloushi, head of highway traffic at Abu Dhabi Police, said on Wednesday.

Labourers are "part and parcel of the social fabric", he said, and the authorities want to make sure they are conscious about the importance of traffic safety.
