ABU DHABI // Forty couples participating in a mass wedding in Al Gharbia received a special guest when Abu Dhabi's Crown Prince paid a visit, WAM, the state news agency, reported yesterday.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, also the Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, greeted tribal dignitaries and the bridegrooms at the ceremony in Madinat Zayed on Thursday.
Sheikh Mohammed "noted the significance of contributions of businessmen and public and private bodies to mass weddings", according to WAM.
Mass weddings reduce the costs of marriage for couples.
