ABU DHABI // A man who regularly gave his credit card to a friend to withdraw money for him said the friend stole Dh1,000 from his account, the Appeals Court heard on Sunday.

The plaintiff said he usually gave his credit card to the defendant, K J, a Pakistani, because he did not know how to withdraw money from the cash machine.

On the day in question, K J allegedly withdrew Dh1,000 from the account without the plaintiff’s permission, and the plaintiff then received a text message from the bank about the withdrawal of the money.

K J denied the charge, saying that had he wanted to steal from his friend, he would have withdrawn the entire sum of Dh5,700 in the account.

K J said he only withdrew the Dh1,000 that was asked for.

The court asked K J whether he was willing to return the Dh1,000 to reconcile with the plaintiff. “I already returned the money to him, but if the court orders me to pay him another Dh1,000 I don’t mind,” he said.

The court adjourned the case until March 4 and ordered K J to bring the Dh1,000.
