Abandoned newborn in good health, RAK police say

Ras al Khaimah // Police say a baby boy abandoned outside a mosque this weekend is in good health.

The child, thought to be no more than a few weeks old, was left outside a mosque in the Old RAK area.

Residents called the police after being alerted by the boy's crying. Police took the baby to a hospital where he will stay until his parents are found.

"We sent the baby to Saqr Hospital and we have started our investigation to find the parents for this child," said Major Marwan al Mansoori of RAK Police.

This is the second abandoned baby case in RAK this year. In February, a baby girl was abandoned in a box outside a mosque in the village of Jazirat Al Hamra. The investigation is ongoing.
