DUBAI // A 37-year-old broke into his ex-girlfriend’s house and kidnapped her after she broke up with him, Dubai Criminal Court heard.
On January 22 this year, Sri Lankan A W and four compatriots, N J, 26, R A, 43, S A, 37, and A A, 32, forced their way into the woman’s home and assaulted her along with a man who was in her company. They then kidnapped her and locked her up.
All five men are charged with kidnap, confinement, trespassing, physical assault and damaging property.
A W is charged with threatening to kill the 26-year-old Sri Lankan victim, M W.
M W told prosecutors that after she broke up with A W he came to her home and told her that he wanted her back in his life, but when she refused he insulted and threatened to kill her.
A W and N J, R A, S A were armed with sticks and knifes when they broke into the woman’s flat at dawn,
A W assaulted her and dragged her out of the apartment. He shoved her into a car and drove to his flat where he locked her up for three hours.
All five men denied the charges against them in court.
“This is not true, I called her to arrange a meeting but she told me she was with someone. Then I went over thinking that he was keeping her by force, we didn’t assault or break anything,” said A W in court.
The next hearing will be on March 24.
