UAE weather: a hot and dusty weekend ahead

The weekend will be hot and dusty, with temperatures expected to reach 42°C in some areas.

A section of the Abu Dhabi coast to the south of the capital was covered by fog on Friday as visibility fell below one kilometre in the early hours.

The murky weather is expected to lift by 9.30am.

It will be partly sunny with clouds appearing in the east at times. Temperatures will be hottest in the south, where the mercury will reach 41°C.

It will slightly be cooler on the coast, where the mercury will hit 39°C in Abu Dhabi city and Dubai.

Light to moderate winds will pick up, blowing dust and sand over exposed areas during the day.

Conditions in the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea are expected to be calm. The picture will be similar at the weekend.

Saturday will be hot and partly cloudy at times, with fresh winds kicking up dust clouds during the day.

Temperatures are expected to reach 39°C in Abu Dhabi city and Dubai, and 41°C in some areas in the south.

On Sunday, the mercury will climb on the coast to reach 41°C in Abu Dhabi city and 40°C in Dubai. It will be mostly sunny and dusty at times.

Monday will be even hotter, with the temperature climbing as high as 43°C in Abu Dhabi city and 42°C in Dubai.
