Free public parking in Dubai has switched to Sunday, authorities said.
Previously parking was free on Fridays but now charges will be applied Monday through Saturday, from 8am to 10pm, according to a statement issued by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, and effective from Monday.
Multi-storey car parks will charge fees around the clock and for seven days.
Vehicles can use roadside public parking areas for a maximum of four consecutive hours, parking lots for 24 hours, and multi-storey parking for 30 days.
Friday had traditionally been the day for free parking as it was the first day of the weekend.
However, the UAE shifted its weekend to Saturday and Sunday in January to align with the rest of the world.
The decision only affects parking in Dubai and not the other six emirates.
