Dubai police said the accidents were caused by motorists disobeying traffic laws. A cyclist was killed in the first incident when his bike crashed into a vehicle reversing towards a missed exit, while a second collision the same day involved a speeding car and a lorry on Emirates Road. In a third accident on Friday, three people were injured when two vehicles collided in Discovery Garden. "One of the cars jumped the red light signal and crashed into another car," said Col Jumaa Salem bin Suwaidan, Acting Director of the General Directorate of Traffic at Dubai Police. Another crash on Friday on Rebat Road involved a motorcycle and two cars that failed to keep a safe distance between them. In the fifth accident, a man was severely injured after he was hit by a car Sharjah-bound on Emirates Road. “This accident happened when the pedestrian was crossing the road from an undesignated area,” said Col bin Suwaidan.
