Fog engulfed parts of the UAE coast on Thursday, prompting police to reduce speed limits on motorways for a third consecutive day. The murky weather stretched from beyond Umm Al Quwain in the north, down to the outskirts of Abu Dhabi, also affecting an area on the southern border. Forecasters at the National Centre of Meteorology issued an alert and speed limits were reduced to 80kph as visibility fell below 1,000 metres in the affected areas. The fog is expected to lift by 10am, leaving a fair to partly cloudy day. Temperatures will fall slightly, reaching a high of 34°C on the coast and up to 36°C inland. Clouds could form in the east by the afternoon and could bring some light rain. Humidity will rise again overnight night, raising the risk of further fog or mist forming over some coastal and internal areas, especially in the west. Fog is common at this time of the year as the seasons change.
