The UAE reported 1,565 new coronavirus cases on Saturday. This brings the number of infections recorded since the start of the pandemic to 659,449. Four people died of Covid-related causes in the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 1,896. Another 1,508 people recovered from the virus, taking the number of recoveries to 637,267. Active cases stand at 20,286. The figures came after 299,275 Covid-19 tests were carried out. Authorities have implemented strict rules and one of the world's fastest vaccination programmes to curb the virus. At least 77.6 per cent of the UAE population has received one Covid-19 vaccine dose, while 68.1 per cent is fully vaccinated. Abu Dhabi, meanwhile, announced that from Monday <a href="https://www.thenationalnews.com/uae/2021/07/16/eid-al-adha-abu-dhabi-issues-guidelines-to-protect-public-during-holiday/" target="_blank">residents must remain indoors</a> "unless absolutely necessary" from midnight until 5am daily, after authorities announced the resumption of an extensive disinfection campaign to combat Covid-19. <br/> <br/>
