153,000 meals distributed to Hajj pilgrims in memory of late Sheikh Zayed

The news comes as the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi directs the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) to launch the "Zayed's Legacy to Support Yemeni People"

The UAE’s official Hajj Mission has started the distribution of 153,000 meals to pilgrims in memory of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founder of the UAE.

On the occasion, Dr. Mohammed Matar Al Kaabi, Awqaf Chairman and Head of the UAE’s official Hajj Mission, said that the meals would be distributed to pilgrims from across the world in several batches. He added that 20,000 meals have already been handed out in Medina in two batches of 10,000 each.

Dr. Al Kaabi further explained that 50,000 meals would be given to pilgrims on the Day of Arafah, in addition to 30,000 meals in Muzdalifah. Another 50,000 meals are scheduled to be distributed in the Mina camps during Tashriq days.

Meanwhile, his Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has directed the Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, to launch the "Zayed's Legacy to Support Yemeni People" in Al Mukalla, Hadramut, in honour of all Yemeni people, especially the families of martyrs and the wounded.

The campaign will provide the families with Eid clothing, gifts for children, and cash distribution along with vouchers to purchase necessities.

A delegation from the ERC paid visits to the martyr's families and presented to them vouchers to purchase Eid Al Adha necessities.

Ahmed Al Neyadi, Head of the ERC team in Hadramaut, said the campaign embodies the UAE's approach for humanitarian and developmental aid. It also comes as a gesture to bring happiness to the families of martyrs and the wounded in Yemen.
