12 injured as bus crashes into palm tree in RAK

Police said accident was caused by driver not paying attention.

RAS AL KHAIMAH // Twelve workers have been injured after the bus they were travelling in crashed into a palm tree.

The Asian workers, aged between 30 and 44, suffered various moderate to severe injuries.

Colonel Ali Saeed Al Alkeem, director of Traffic and Patrols at Ras Al Khaimah Police, said a call was received at 7.30am on Wednesday.

Initial investigations revealed that the accident was caused by lack of attention by the bus driver, which led the vehicle to swerve and ram into the tree.

A report of the accident was sent to prosecutors to see if charges will be brought.

Col Al Alkeem urged all drivers to pay attention to the road and stay focused while driving. He also urged them to abide by traffic regulations to safeguard their lives and that of other road users.
