DUBAI // Mohammed Shahzad Mohammadi added the gloss to a perfect day for Afghanistan by guiding the national cricket team to victory over Ireland in the final of the World Twenty20 Qualifiers last night.
The big-hitting batsman smashed a six to take his personal tally to 62 and the Afghans to an eight-wicket win over the Irish, as well as sending the 6,000 supporters into raptures.
Afghanistan had already claimed the all-important World Twenty20 berth, just by reaching the final.
They secured their place in the West Indies with a win over a valiant UAE side earlier in the day.
