Uganda take charge against UAE

ABU DHABI // Uganda looked all set to grab first innings points over the UAE as a draw loomed over their ICC Intercontinental Shield game in today's final day at the Zayed Stadium. The UAE were 102 for two at stumps in the second innings with Arshad Ali (59 not out) and Saqib Ali (33 not out) at the crease. Uganda were bowled out for 373, giving them a 12-run first innings lead, which, if the game finishes a draw, will give them six points and put them top of the four-team group.

Lawrence Sematimba, the overnight batsman, made a top score of 89 but it was Frank Nsubuga who took anda past the UAE's first innings total with a 50-ball knock 37 that contained five fours and a six. Ronald Ssemanda (41) and Benjamin Musoke (40) chipped in with useful contributions. The medium pacer Amjad Javed was the pick of the bowlers with four for 48 in 21.5 overs while spinner Fayyaz Ahmed took three for 74 from 34 overs. @Email:apassela@thenational.ae
