The UAE kept their promotion to Division 1 of the Asian Rugby Championship alive after a resounding 65-13 demolition of Uzbekistan at Tashkent on Wednesday.
They meet Thailand in the Division 2 final on Saturday after the latter got the better of Guam 25-16 in the other semi-final. Uzbekistan meet Guam in the play-off for third on the same day.
It was one-way traffic as Apollo Perelini’s men raced to a 27-3 lead inside the first 25 minutes.
The UAE narrowly missed of a promotion 12 months ago when they went down by a point 20-19 to Malaysia, who emerged the Division-1 champions last week in a group that also included Sri Lanka, Philippines and Singapore.
