Transfer talk: Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea battle for ‘new Sergio Aguero’, Real Madrid set for shock Falcao bid

A round-up of the biggest football transfer stories including the future of Radamel Falcao and interest in Palermo forward dubbed ‘the new Sergio Aguero’.

Palermo

A bidding war is expected to begin between Liverpool, Arsenal, and Chelsea for the services of highly-rated Palermo forward Paulo Dybala.

Palermo president Mauro Zamparini has made it clear Dybala, who he dubbed ‘the new Sergio Aguero’, would be leaving the club after the striker made his intentions to leave clear.

Last week, Zamparini laid out his asking price and revealed Arsenal have already made contact to agree a deal.

“Juventus and Arsenal have already made the offerings,” he said.

“My request is more than 40 million euros. Dybala would prefer to stay in Italy, but among the English clubs Arsenal is the first choice of the boy for the way he plays the team coached by (Arsene) Wenger.”

However, according to the Daily Mail, Palermo can expect more clubs to come forward with offers, with Liverpool and Chelsea both mentioned as interested parties.

It is being reported that should Liverpool decide to sell Raheem Sterling, Dybala will be their priority target to replace the English forward.

Meanwhile, Chelsea view Dybala as the ideal understudy to Diego Costa, whose problematic hamstring has left Chelsea short on firepower.

Real Madrid

Spanish champions Real Madrid are readying a surprise move for Manchester United’s on-loan striker Radamel Falcao, according to Spanish media reports.

Falcao has struggled to make a significant impact since moving to United on a one-year loan deal last summer, and the chances of United making his move permanent at a cost of £43m are highly unlikely.

However, Falcao could be offered the chance to return to Spain — where he spent two hugely successful seasons at Atletico Madrid — with Real, who are reportedly willing to offer £32m to sign the Colombian.

Madrid’s current back-up option to striker Karim Benzema is United’s Javier Hernandez, but the Mexican has found game time limited and will return to Old Trafford once the loan deal expires.

Arsenal

Arsenal are considering a bid for unsettled Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Yohan Cabaye, according to reports in France.

Cabaye, who moved to PSG from Newcastle in January 2014, has struggled to cement a place in the starting line-up and is seeking a move from the French capital at the end of the season.

A return to the Premier League could beckon for the 29-year-old, with Arsenal willing to offer £10m for his services, an offer PSG are likely to accept.

Manchester United

Sami Khedira could be on his way to Old Trafford, with reports claiming Manchester United are set to offer Real Madrid’s departing midfielder a contract.

Khedira is out of contract at the end of the season, and interest is thought to be high in the German World Cup-winner.

Recent reports have claimed Chelsea were lining up a move that would scupper the hopes of Bundesliga side Schalke, who were initially expected to wrap up a deal.

However, the latest reports claim United, who have made signing a central midfielder a top priority this summer, are set to hold talks with Khedira, although the club have been told they have to offer wages in the region of £200,000.
