The National's Sport cover for the Thursday, June 25 issue, featuring Roger Federer ahead of Wimbledon.

Graham Caygill writes that despite Federer's apparent diminished abilities at 33, he can still be a threat to take the title at the All England Club.

“When Roger Federer steps out on court at Wimbledon next week to begin his bid for a record eighth championship, time and history will be against him.

“His last grand slam title win was nearly three years ago, at Wimbledon.”

But, Graham goes on: “He remains a contender despite his powers seemingly being on the wane.”

Graham also speaks to Tim Henman about when it's time to go, and the former British No 1 said he knew it when:

“I was not going to be travelling around the world making up the numbers, and I remember saying to my coach that for the first time ever this is becoming a job and not my hobby.”
