The Abu Dhabi Men's Open took place last weekend, with 72 golfers arriving at Abu Dhabi Golf Club on Friday and Saturday to compete for the title. One of the competitors was quite tall. Also quite good. Craig Smith, the world's tallest professional golfer* shot a 7-under 137 with a Friday round of 70 and Saturday round of 67 to capture the title in a runaway. We include an asterisk next to that title of tallest golfer because, well, it's kind of a hard thing to confirm without a shadow of a doubt. I mean, you never know. But Smith stands 6-foot-8, and there don't appear to be any notable pros who can challenge him for the claim. Plus, his Twitter handle is Craig 'Giant' Smith – @craiggiantsmith – and he has a (under-construction) website tagged with the 'Giant' nickname. That has to count for something, at least. Over the weekend, the former Asian Tour player beat the 2013 champion, Michael Harradine, who finished 1-over. Harradine's father Peter actually designed the course at ADGC. Rounding things out were Scott Nightingale and Craig Vance at 3-over. Here are a couple photos of the big man, courtesy Abu Dhabi Golf Club:
