Taylor penalty earns Bolton a point

A late equaliser from the penalty spot from Matthew Taylor denied Stoke City their first away win against Bolton Wanderers since October 12, 1963, as the match finished 1-1 at the Reebok Stadium. An uninspiring first half saw neither side really threaten. Ricardo Fuller was incensed for receiving a yellow card early on for going to ground in the Bolton penalty area, but referee Mark Clattenburg made the right call as there was minimal contact from Gavin McCann. With Stoke just edging the play the Bolton fans were anxious to see their side up the tempo at the start of the second half, especially after losing their first two matches of the season at home to Sunderland and Liverpool, but with just eight minutes of the half played, their apprehension proved well-founded. Fuller found his strike partner Dave Kitson on the edge of the box and the flame-haired frontman finished neatly for his third goal of the season. Stoke looked good for all three points, until Danny Collins' clumsy challenge on Sam Ricketts in the box two minutes from full-time allowed Taylor to step up and hammer home the spot kick.
