Sunday cover: Lingard leaves it late to win FA Cup for Man United as Van Gaal makes way for Mourinho

Manchester United forward Jesse Lingard celebrates on The National Sport front page on Sunday, May 22 after scoring the winner in extra time to secure the FA Cup trophy.

A goalless and static first half made way for a thrilling second period as substitute Jason Puncheon looked to have won it for Crystal Palace with a fierce finish on 78 minutes.

However, United responded immediately with a Juan Mata goal three minutes later to taker the contest into extra-time.

Palace looked to be in the ascendancy when defender Chris Smalling was sent off for a second bookable offence, only for Lingard to pop up with a fine finish to seal the cup for United.

The FA Cup triumph is likely to be the last match for manager Louis van Gaal, with widespread reports claiming former Chelsea, Real Madrid, and Inter Milan coach Jose Mourinho will be appointed the new coach this week.
