Rovers take the point

Sam Allardyce continued his good start to his reign as Blackburn boss with a battling point at Sunderland. It could have been even better for Rovers as Sunderland keeper Martin Fulop made terrific second half saves to deny Morten Gamst Pedersen and Keith Andrews, while Jason Roberts missed an open goal in stoppage time. Steed Malbranque fired wide when well placed for the hosts. sports@thenational.ae
