Roberto Carlos and Diego Maradona discussed the possibilty of a friendly between Anzhi Makhachkala and Al Wasl when the decorated pair met in Dubai yesterday.
The World Cup-winning Brazilian, who is player/manager at the Russian club, paid a visit to Al Wasl to meet with Maradona, the coach and joint Fifa Player of the Century, and check-up on his health after the Argentine had an operation to remove kidney stones.
Roberto Carlos told Maradona that he and Samuel Eto'o, the Cameroonian who also plays for Anzhi and was in Dubai for the recent PSG v AC Milan match, would like to arrange for a friendly between Al Wasl and Anzhi. Maradona welcomed the idea and told Roberto Carlos: "You are welcome at Zabeel [Stadium] anytime."
Maradona was also visited by Robin van Persie, the Arsenal and Holland striker, earlier this month.
Earlier, Maradona took charge of the team and led the training session for the first time since being released from hospital while later flying to China for a private function.
Al Wasl have been training all week in preparation for their Pro League match at Sharjah on Monday.
