Ramos vows to fight on

The Tottenham manager Juande Ramos says he is determined to stay in his job despite his side's poor start to the season.

Juande Ramos has pledged to stay at White Hart Lane to turn Tottenham's awful start to the season around. The Spurs manager saw his side slump to their third home defeat of the season as they lost 1-0 against Hull, leaving them anchored to the foot of the table. But Ramos, who could cost Tottenham £20million (Dh128m) in compensation if he was sacked by chairman Daniel Levy, insisted: "This is my job. I am the same whether we win or lose.

"Any decision on my future is not up to me, but I am determined to put it right. It is my job, my work. "The main problem for us is scoring goals. You have to score to win games and we are finding that difficult. But if we continue to play similar to how we did against Hull we can change the situation." He added: "The effort was there and the players did their job very well. Their attitude was positive and when I speak to them they say they want to finish this situation quickly."

Ramos faces an anxious wait to discover the extent of his striker problems when Russian forward Roman Pavlyuchenko undergoes a scan this week on the ankle injury which saw him limp off in the first half against Hull. * PA Sport
