Paul Lambert, the Norwich manager, saw his side break a 17-year hoodoo. The 2-1 win over Bolton was the club's first away from home in the top flight since victory at Crystal Palace in 1994. Goals from Anthony Pilkington and Bradley Johnson gave Norwich all three points. Martin Petrov scored a penalty for Bolton while Ivan Klasnic was sent off in the first half for a butt.

Hugo Rodallega, the Wigan striker, is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a suspected knee ligament rupture against Everton. The Colombian was hurt in added time of the 3-1 defeat. The substitutes Apostolos Vellios and Royston Drenthe scored late on in Everton's first home win of the season. Franco Di Santo had put Wigan ahead in the first half only for Phil Jagielka to equalise 97 seconds later.

Swansea ended their goal drought in style as they claimed a first Premier League win at the Liberty Stadium. Scott Sinclair ended the hosts's 374-minute wait for a top-flight goal as he coolly slotted home a 14th-minute penalty. Leroy Lita nodded home his first for the club 10 minutes later before Nathan Dyer secured the points shortly after the break, with Brendan Rodgers's side also keeping a third straight clean sheet at home.

QPR's new-look team put in an impressive display as they ran out winners against Wolves at Molineux. Joey Barton, the captain, scored his first goal for the club in the eighth minute and it was 2-0 in the 10th thanks to Alejandro Faurlin's strike. The visitors added a third with three minutes remaining, substitute DJ Campbell opening his own account for a side containing the five new players recruited since Tony Fernandes's takeover.
