Gael Clichy has confirmed that he will become the second full-back to leave Manchester City this summer.
The Frenchman’s contract expires next month and he will leave on a free transfer after making 203 appearances since joining from Arsenal for £7 million in 2011.
Asked about Joe Hart, who is on loan at Torino, at a fan event on Monday, the defender said: “It’s hard, I’m not sure whether or not Joe will be here next season, and I won’t be here next season.”
Right-back Pablo Zabaleta announced his departure from the Etihad Stadium 10 days ago after a nine-year stay in Manchester.
A third full-back, Bacary Sagna, is also out of contract and expected to leave as Pep Guardiola plans a major revamp of his defence.
City are set to target two first-choice full-backs, with Juventus’s Alex Sandro tipped to arrive to take over from Clichy.
While the France international made 39 appearances this season and was an automatic choice for the final three months of the season, Aleksandar Kolarov, who has one year left on his contract, is set to remain as the reserve left-back next year.

Tottenham Hotspur right-back Kyle Walker, who has been omitted from the Spurs side after his relationship with manager Mauricio Pochettino broke down, is the likeliest arrival on the left.
City are yet to resolve the future of four more out-of-contract players, with winger Jesus Navas more likely to remain as the second-choice right-back than Sagna.
However, the Spain international’s former club Sevilla have expressed an interest in taking him back to the Primera Liga, with their president Jose Castro saying last month: “This is his home for life.”
Goalkeeper Willy Caballero, who finished the season in Guardiola’s side, is waiting to discover if he will get a new deal.
The Argentine said last week: “It’s a big, big, big club for me, so of course I want to stay.”
Midfielder Yaya Toure, who said on Sunday that he wants to end his career at City, may extend the revival in his fortunes by getting a new deal.
“I want to go on until the end and the best way is going to be [playing] football with City,” he said after Sunday’s 5-0 win at Watford. “To be honest, to see me in another shirt would be quite difficult.”

Teaching your child to save
Pre-school (three - five years)
You can’t yet talk about investing or borrowing, but introduce a “classic” money bank and start putting gifts and allowances away. When the child wants a specific toy, have them save for it and help them track their progress.
Early childhood (six - eight years)
Replace the money bank with three jars labelled ‘saving’, ‘spending’ and ‘sharing’. Have the child divide their allowance into the three jars each week and explain their choices in splitting their pocket money. A guide could be 25 per cent saving, 50 per cent spending, 25 per cent for charity and gift-giving.
Middle childhood (nine - 11 years)
Open a bank savings account and help your child establish a budget and set a savings goal. Introduce the notion of ‘paying yourself first’ by putting away savings as soon as your allowance is paid.

How to play the stock market recovery in 2021?
If you are looking to build your long-term wealth in 2021 and beyond, the stock market is still the best place to do it as equities powered on despite the pandemic.
Investing in individual stocks is not for everyone and most private investors should stick to mutual funds and ETFs, but there are some thrilling opportunities for those who understand the risks.
Peter Garnry, head of equity strategy at Saxo Bank, says the 20 best-performing US and European stocks have delivered an average return year-to-date of 148 per cent, measured in local currency terms.
Online marketplace Etsy was the best performer with a return of 330.6 per cent, followed by communications software company Sinch (315.4 per cent), online supermarket HelloFresh (232.8 per cent) and fuel cells specialist NEL (191.7 per cent).
Mr Garnry says digital companies benefited from the lockdown, while green energy firms flew as efforts to combat climate change were ramped up, helped in part by the European Union’s green deal.
Electric car company Tesla would be on the list if it had been part of the S&P 500 Index, but it only joined on December 21. “Tesla has become one of the most valuable companies in the world this year as demand for electric vehicles has grown dramatically,” Mr Garnry says.
By contrast, the 20 worst-performing European stocks fell 54 per cent on average, with European banks hit by the economic fallout from the pandemic, while cruise liners and airline stocks suffered due to travel restrictions.
As demand for energy fell, the oil and gas industry had a tough year, too.
Mr Garnry says the biggest story this year was the “absolute crunch” in so-called value stocks, companies that trade at low valuations compared to their earnings and growth potential.
He says they are “heavily tilted towards financials, miners, energy, utilities and industrials, which have all been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic”. “The last year saw these cheap stocks become cheaper and expensive stocks have become more expensive.”
This has triggered excited talk about the “great value rotation” but Mr Garnry remains sceptical. “We need to see a breakout of interest rates combined with higher inflation before we join the crowd.”
Always remember that past performance is not a guarantee of future returns. Last year’s winners often turn out to be this year’s losers, and vice-versa.
