The Red Bull Aces wingsuit race was held in California last week, the first – one would imagine – of its kind. Red Bull claims it was the first, at least, and it’s hard to imagine anyone beat them to the punch.
The general gist of the race appears to be that skydivers jump out of a plane and, like skiers, go “downhill” weaving in and out of gates. Just instead of downhill, it’s freefalling through the sky.
“The race format is in essence ski cross in the sky,” as a Red Bull press release put it.
Two Skydive Dubai athletes were in on the act, with American Noah Bahnson finishing second and South African Julian Boulle finishing third in the race that began at 7,000 feet and ended at 3,500 feet.
Check out the photos above for some cool visuals of Dubai’s Bahnson and Boulle flying over California.
