Another week and another milestone for the remarkable tennis great Rafael Nadal.

Just a few weeks after the Spaniard secured a record-equalling 20th Grand Slam win with yet another French Open victory, Nadal reached a milestone 1,000 ATP Tour wins.

A 4-6, 7-6, 6-4 win over Feliciano Lopez in the second round of the Paris Masters meant Nadal joined Jimmy Connors (1,274), Roger Federer (1,242) and Ivan Lendl (1,068) as the only male players to reach the 1,000-win mark since the Open era began in 1968.

In rugby union, the coronavirus-delayed Six Nations finally reached a conclusion after France defeated Ireland 35-27 in Paris, meaning Eddie Jones' England – that had earlier beaten Italy in Rome – sealed their first title for three years.

On the race track, Mercedes claimed a seventh straight constructors' title after Lewis Hamilton again took the chequered flag, this time in the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix in Italy.

In horse racing, Twilight Payment was victorious in the prestigious Melbourne Cup that saw jockey Jye McNeil win the race at the first time of asking.
