ABU DHABI // The popular Yas Racing Series and an even bigger TRD 86 Cup will share the spotlight alongside the new Formula 4 UAE Championship at the Yas Marina Circuit this weekend as the new UAE motorsport season gets under way.
The season-opener will run from Thursday until Saturday, with the Yas Racing Series, which also includes the Formula Gulf 1000, the UAE’s national single-seater championship.
The highly anticipated Formula 4 UAE, open to drivers 15 years and above, will make its debut on Friday.

The six-round TRD 86 Cup, supported once again by Toyota Racing Development (TRD), will also be back for a third successive season, with a mix of professional and amateur drivers competing across two categories, Gold and Silver.
The TRD 86 Cup is a single-make, sustainable local motorsport initiative introduced by Yas Marina Circuit in 2014 to enable amateur racers to drive in a professional, competitive environment.

“As we have proved, there is strong demand for local motorsport competition here in the UAE.
“We’re especially pleased to see the return of the TRD 86 Cup for its third season as well as the debut of the Formula 4 UAE, which will no doubt boost the local grass-roots racing scene and create a pathway for future stars.
“Whether it’s entry-level races for amateurs or international series for seasoned professionals, Yas Marina Circuit’s season of motorsport will offer fans a comprehensive range of racing and we hope you can join us for what promises to be a spectacular opening weekend.”
Tickets for the weekend cost Dh25. Fans can also follow the weekend’s action on YasTV, the official online TV channel and home of video content for Yas Marina Circuit.

Ziina users can donate to relief efforts in Beirut
Ziina users will be able to use the app to help relief efforts in Beirut, which has been left reeling after an August blast caused an estimated $15 billion in damage and left thousands homeless. Ziina has partnered with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees to raise money for the Lebanese capital, co-founder Faisal Toukan says. “As of October 1, the UNHCR has the first certified badge on Ziina and is automatically part of user's top friends' list during this campaign. Users can now donate any amount to the Beirut relief with two clicks. The money raised will go towards rebuilding houses for the families that were impacted by the explosion.”
