There are less than two weeks until UFC Fight Island gets underway in Abu Dhabi, and preparations are full steam ahead to get everything ready. Housed within the 25-kilometre 'safe zone' – where UFC fighters, staff, and event organisers will remain throughout their visit to the capital – is the arena where the shows will take place. Flash Forum, which will stage all four events including UFC 251 on July 12, is receiving a makeover to ensure it is fit for purpose to host UFC shows. As you can see in the photos in the gallery above, work is well underway to get the venue ready for UFC Fight Island. The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT-Abu Dhabi) are leading the local organising efforts, and Saeed Al Saeed, destination marketing director at DCT-Abu Dhabi, told The National that preparations are in the "final stages". Leaving no stone unturned to ensure the safety of everyone involved in UFC Fight Island, Abu Dhabi Airport staff have taken part in a series of dry runs ahead of the first international arrivals for the series.
