The main event at Sunday’s UFC 253 in Abu Dhabi was made official on Friday, with middleweight champion Israel Adesanya and challenger Paulo Costa both making weight at the Flash Forum. Adesanya, whose professional mixed martial arts record stands at 19-0, was the second of the pair to take to the scales, coming in at 184lbs. Costa, meanwhile, was the first athlete on the card to weigh in, and looked in peak physical condition at 185lbs on the button. The headline act at UFC 253, the first of five events on “Return to Fight Island” in the capital, pits together two unbeaten male fighters for a UFC title for only the second time in the promotion’s history. Costa boasts a pro record of 13-0. Sunday’s event features another championship bout, when Domnick Reyes and Jan Blachowicz go head-to-head for the vacant light heavyweight crown. On Friday, Blachowicz came in at 205lbs, with Reyes matching his rival.
