Rey Mysterio is back in the WWE and potential matches in the future with Ricochet and Kurt Angle are matches he has targeted. It was announced on Tuesday that the two-time WWE World Heavyweight champion will be returning to SmackDown on the October 16 SmackDown 1000 show where he will face United States champion Shinsuke Nakamura. Mysterio, who left the WWE in 2015 after a successful 13-year run with the company, is back on a full-time basis, and he already has his eyes set on who would he would like to go up against on the roster. "Ricochet is an incredible athlete. He has the potential to become the next superstar in WWE. He’s a star right now in NXT, and I can’t wait until he moves up to either the Smackdown or Raw roster.” A more familiar opponent that Mysterio would also like to face is Kurt Angle. The pair met in a classic match at SummerSlam 2002 in what was Mysterio's first pay-per-view appearance for the WWE. "I’d love to do a rematch with Kurt Angle,” Mysterio said. “He’s such an inspiring athlete, having gone through what he’s gone through in his career, being a gold medallist, and he’s one of the toughest opponents I’ve faced in the ring. "It definitely makes me want to go in with him again now, at a different level in both of our careers. I know he still loves wrestling, even though he is more on the camera side now. I’m sure he would enjoy another match with me, so I’m definitely looking forward to something like this.” Mysterio made a cameo appearance for the WWE earlier this year at The Greatest Royal Rumble in Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, where he competed in the 50-man Royal Rumble. Mysterio's match with Nakamura is a qualifier to enter the WWE World Cup, which will be part of the WWE's second visit to Saudi in November at Crown Jewel, which is being held in Riyadh. Of competing in Jeddah in April he said: “It was such an incredible feeling to be in front of more than 60,000 fans, and the reaction that the fans had that night was just breath-taking. “It was a Wrestlemania moment. I’m looking forward to keep doing that in the future.” Mysterio features in WWE 2K19, which was released this week, as a bonus character and he admitted that he still gets a buzz from featuring in a video game. “This is such an incredible feeling," he said. "To be in WWE2K19, following the likes of legends like Kurt Angle, Sting and Goldberg, to have Rey Mysterio as a bonus character is really remarkable and I’m really honoured to be part of this videogame. “I’m really intrigued by playing myself in big-head mode. I saw images of it, I’ve seen video clips of it, but I still haven’t played big-head mode. So I’m very much looking forward to playing that.”
