Glock unlikely to race again for Toyota

Timo Glock has announced it is unlikely that he will remain with the Toyota team for the 2010 season. The German driver, who is sidelined for Sunday's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix due to a back injury suffered following his big crash in qualifying for the Japanese Grand Prix, says he has options with other teams for next season and is unwilling to wait for the Japanese team to make a decision on who they are going to employ. "It does not look like I will drive for Toyota at the moment," he said. "Various teams I have made good contacts with and we are in good position for next year. "Toyota cannot make a decision before the 15th of November so that is the main reason it does not look like I can drive for Toyota again." Glock, whose best result of the season was second place in last month's Singapore Grand Prix would not confirm his destination if he does leave Toyota, but he has been strongly linked with a move to Renault to partner Robert Kubica. He adds: "I know we still have some stuff to sort out with the teams but overall I am quite positive." Glock, who is 10th in the championship with 24 points, also paid tribute to new world champion Jenson Button. Speaking on whether the Brawn GP driver had earned the title, he said: "He was the driver who scored the most points and did not make many mistakes. "In the races when he was in bad positions he made best off it. "He did a lot of clever races and in the end I think he deserved it." gcaygill@thenational.ae
