Dubai driver Ed Jones lost his lead in the Indy Lights championship standings on Friday after a puncture three laps from home put him out of the Indy Lights Freedom 100 at Indianapolis.
The race was won by British racer Jack Harvey, who jumped ahead of Carlin’s Jones in the standings with 192 points to 179.
Harvey had just taken the lead from Ethan Ringel when Jones spun into the Turn 4 wall, sending debris all over the track and forcing the field to finish under a yellow flag.
Jones, who won the first three races of the season, will get a chance to recapture the championship lead at the next round – a double header on the streets of Toronto on June 12.
