Atef Al Barwani and Alex Silanine recorded wins in the SWS Senior sprint races at Dubai Kartdrome on Sunday, with Oliver Walton enjoying success in the SWS Junior Super Final and heats.
With just a second separating the top 15 drivers in the SWS Seniors in qualifying, the stage was set for a couple of intriguing races.
In Race 1, Al Barwani overcame the field as he powered to victory by 1.7 seconds over Silanine, who fended off a strong challenge from Anjum Shaikh in third.
Silanine gave one of his best showings in SWS as he claimed victory in Race 2, crossing the line 0.402 secs ahead of runner-up Ali Al Mansoori with Haytham Sultan third. Al Barwani came home fourth.
Earlier in the evening Oliver Walton overcame a strong challenge from Leo Ardolino and Kamal Agha to win the SWS Junior Super Final with the trio crossing the line almost side-by-side.
Walton, who won two heats, was also top points scorer, ahead of Agha and Cameron Macmillan, who each won on of the four heats. The winner of the final was Saif Al Naggar.
Several of the drivers in both the Senior and Junior classes head off to France next week where they will represent the UAE in the Sodi World Series Grand Finals at the RKC circuit in Paris.
