Mikel Arteta, the Everton midfielder, has agreed a new five-year deal which the club hope will end speculation that the Spaniard could leave. The 28-year-old Arteta, who has been linked with a return to Barcelona, his former club, said yesterday that during the off-season he has realised "how important I am to the club and how important the club is to me". "The chairman and the manager wanted me to stay 120 per cent and that makes me feel proud," he said. "We are all seeing the club and the future in the same way and that is special - something that you don't always find. I believe in this squad. We have got a very strong squad now and it is getting difficult to pick an 11 because of the players we have."
Bill Kenwright, the chairman, described Arteta as "one of the finest players ever to wear an Everton shirt". He is the fifth Everton player to agree a new contract since the end of last season, with Tim Cahill, Seamus Coleman, Jack Rodwell and Leighton Baines also committing themselves to the Merseysiders. Elsewhere, Fabrice Muamba has committed his future to Bolton Wanderers, signing a new four-year contract.
The 22-year-old midfielder has become a key player at the Reebok Stadium since joining from Birmingham two years ago. His new deal will keep him at Bolton until the summer of 2014. And the England Under 21 international, who was two years into the four-year deal he signed when he joined Wanderers, is now looking forward to staying in the north west of England for the long term. Fourth Arab Economic and Social Development Summit

Lebanon is scheduled to host the fourth Arab Economic and Social Development Summit in January that will see regional leaders gather to tackle the challenges facing the Middle East. The last such summit was held in 2013. Assistant Secretary-General Hossam Zaki told The National that the Beirut Summit “will be an opportunity for Arab leaders to discuss solely economic and social issues, the conference will not focus on political concerns such as Palestine, Syria or Libya". He added that its slogan will be “the individual is at the heart of development”, adding that it will focus on all elements of human capital.

Credit Score explained
What is a credit score?
In the UAE your credit score is a number generated by the Al Etihad Credit Bureau (AECB), which represents your credit worthiness – in other words, your risk of defaulting on any debt repayments. In this country, the number is between 300 and 900. A low score indicates a higher risk of default, while a high score indicates you are a lower risk.
Why is it important?
Financial institutions will use it to decide whether or not you are a credit risk. Those with better scores may also receive preferential interest rates or terms on products such as loans, credit cards and mortgages.
How is it calculated?
The AECB collects information on your payment behaviour from banks as well as utilitiy and telecoms providers.
How can I improve my score?
By paying your bills on time and not missing any repayments, particularly your loan, credit card and mortgage payments. It is also wise to limit the number of credit card and loan applications you make and to reduce your outstanding balances.
How do I know if my score is low or high?
By checking it. Visit one of AECB’s Customer Happiness Centres with an original and valid Emirates ID, passport copy and valid email address. Liv. customers can also access the score directly from the banking app.
How much does it cost?
A credit report costs Dh100 while a report with the score included costs Dh150. Those only wanting the credit score pay Dh60. VAT is payable on top.
