Mubadala and Adnec score victories in first round of Play for Life Tournament in Abu Dhabi

The Play for Life Tournament in Abu Dhabi has commenced in Abu Dhabi, with Mubadala and Adnec among the winners of the first round of matches.

The seven-a-side football competition, being played at Zayed Sports City, began on Sunday and runs through until Thursday and is part of a campaign to raise awareness for the Imperial College London Diabetes Centre’s push to raise awareness in tackling diabetes.

The scheme is called Diabetes-Knowledge-Action and the aim of the football tournament is to promote the positive impact of physical activity.

Twelve companies have entered the tournament: Health Authority Abu Dhabi, Yahsat, Mubdala, the Abu Dhabi Cleveland Clinic, Healthpoint, Adnec, Arwa, Imperial College London Diabetes Centre, Saif Bin Darwish, Active Life by Daman, the Abu Dhabi Environment Agency and Dolphin Energy.

Mubadala beat the Cleveland Clinic 3-2 in their opening match, while Adnec were 2-1 winners over Healthpoint, and there was a 3-0 win for Active Life by Daman over Saif Bin Darwish among the other matches.

The tournament runs until Thursday when the final will be played, and awards for best goalkeeper, player, top scorer and fair play award will also be presented.
