Estonia's Tanel Kangert takes The National's Sport cover for Monday, October 24 after he won the second edition of the Abu Dhabi Tour on Sunday.
It was a first general classification victory in any tour race for the humble Team Astana rider, who normally figures into the support set-up. But after winning the pivotal third stage, with its final climb up Jebel Hafeet in Al Ain, he was primed to take centre stage for once.
“If I get occasionally the chance to do my own results then I would love to take it and use it,” he said.
“But I am not the big champion. I am not going to be the big champion. I’d love to win a race or two per year always.”
