The Dubai Duty Free Darts Masters will welcome the top four players in the world for the fourth edition of the tournament taking place in May, organisers have announced.
Scheduled for May 26-27, the Dubai Duty Free Darts Masters will host eight of the best darts players who will compete for the $200,000 (Dh735,000) prize fund.
Among those already confirmed include world No 1 and three-time Dubai champion Michael van Gerwen, with the Dutchman aiming to continue his domination of the tournament.
World No 2 and reigning two-time world champion Gary Anderson will be making his second appearance in Dubai following his debut last year.
“I am very much looking forward to returning to Dubai,” Anderson said.
“Having just retained the World Championship, I want to try and take this title off MVG. The atmosphere was fantastic in the Dubai Tennis Stadium last year and I enjoyed playing in our only outdoor World Series Event.”

The most decorated darts player of all time, Phil Taylor, has also confirmed his place at the Dubai Duty Free Darts Masters. The former world No 1 — currently ranked world No 4 — is a 14-time world champion, 15-time world matchplay winner, 11-time world grand prix champion, and six-time Premier League winner, although the Dubai title has so far eluded him.
Completing the top four is world No 3 and two-time world champion Adrian Lewis.
The remaining four players are set to be announced imminently.
The quarter-finals of the knockout-stlye tournament will take place on Thursday, May 26, before the semi-finals and final are held on Friday, May 27 inside the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium.
The general release of tickets are now on sale and will be sold at Dh199 for Thursday night, Dh250 for Friday night or Dh350 for season tickets.
Tickets will be sold at the Irish Village (www.irishvillage.ae), Tix Box (www.tixbox.com), Platinum List (www.platinumlist.net), and Virgin Tickets (www.tickets.virginmegastore.me).

Fireball
Moscow claimed it hit the largest military fuel storage facility in Ukraine, triggering a huge fireball at the site.
A plume of black smoke rose from a fuel storage facility in the village of Kalynivka outside Kyiv on Friday after Russia said it had destroyed the military site with Kalibr cruise missiles.
"On the evening of March 24, Kalibr high-precision sea-based cruise missiles attacked a fuel base in the village of Kalynivka near Kyiv," the Russian defence ministry said in a statement.
Ukraine confirmed the strike, saying the village some 40 kilometres south-west of Kyiv was targeted.

Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD)
What is THAAD?
It is considered to be the US' most superior missile defence system.
Production:
It was first created in 2008.
Speed:
THAAD missiles can travel at over Mach 8, so fast that it is hypersonic.
Abilities:
THAAD is designed to take out projectiles, namely ballistic missiles, as they are on their downward trajectory towards their target, otherwise known as the "terminal phase".
Purpose:
To protect high-value strategic sites, such as airfields or population centres.
Range:
THAAD can target projectiles both inside and outside of the Earth's atmosphere, at an altitude of 93 miles above the Earth's surface.
Creators:
Lockheed Martin was originally granted the contract to develop the system in 1992. Defence company Raytheon sub-contracts to develop other major parts of the system, such as ground-based radar.
UAE and THAAD:
In 2011, the UAE became the first country outside of the US to buy two THAAD missile defence systems. It then deployed them in 2016, becoming the first Gulf country to do so.
