Much hilarity this morning over Michael Owen's comments that foreign players are responsible for the growth of diving in English football. The former England, Manchester United and Liverpool striker said at the Leaders in Football conference that the problem of diving - highlighted last weekend after a series of incidents involving, among others, Luis Suarez - was getting worse. "It's worse than 10 years ago with the influence of players coming from South America, Spain and Italy," he said. Amusingly, he also told the BBC: "I'm totally against diving." And he reiterated that on Twitter later on by insisting: I have never dived to win a penalty without being touched. I don't condone it and I think it should be stamped out of the game." Really Michael? Really? Think you could argue there wasn't exactly much contact there before you went hurtling to the ground like someone shot in a Vietnam film. Perhaps he just means touched emotionally?
