Melbourne Cup a possibility for Retrieve

Retrieve, an Australian colt, could join Godolphin for a European campaign after running on Saturday.

The four-year-old, owned by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, the Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, is to contest the Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Randwick Racecourse, Sydney, before a decision is made.

"We in Australia have the chance to have these horses but, ultimately, the main ones go to Godolphin," Trevor Lobb, the Darley racing manager, told Racenet.

"He will run in the Queen Elizabeth, and we'll think about it after that. Retrieve could go to England and race at the back end of the European season, and then go to Dubai for the World Cup series."

Lobb hopes Retrieve, a Group 3 winner and Group 1-placed over 10 furlongs and at a mile-and-a-half, will return for a Melbourne Cup run at some point.

"Retrieve could be the ideal horse for Sheikh Mohammed to win the cups," he said.

"At this point of time, it is planned that he will go overseas and then he may come back as an older horse for the cups.

"Godolphin, it's their dream to win the cups."
