Manny Pacquiao could make his return to boxing at Dubai next year in a fight with Amir Khan, the Daily Telegraph has reported.
The newspaper said potential organisers in the UAE were impressed by the amount of money, around US$500 million (Dh1.83 billion), generated by the May 2 fight between Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Bob Arum, Pacquaio’s promoter, said: “I just had a delegation in from Dubai trying to talk to me about a Manny Pacquiao fight some time early next year in Dubai.”
Any fight would be contingent on Pacquiao recovering from shoulder surgery.
Khan, who has made his intentions to fight Mayweather known, has previously stated his desire to fight in the UAE.
Indeed, while the negotiations for May 2 were being drawn out, Khan approached Pacquiao with a proposal that would see the two former stablemates in a showdown in Abu Dhabi.
