Kinnear fury at referee

LONDON // The Newcastle manager Joe Kinnear accused the referee Martin Atkinson of costing his side at least a point after his side were beaten by Fulham 2-1 on Sunday. Danny Murphy tucked home a 66th-minute penalty won by the man-of-the-match Andy Johnson when he was felled by Fabricio Coloccini as he raced into the box. But Kinnear was livid at Atkinson's failure to spot what he viewed as a blatant push by Johnson on Claudio Cacapa in the build-up to the penalty.

Newcastle, who replied to Johnson's first-half opener with a 57th-minute strike by Shola Ameobi, had dominated after the interval and the winner arrived against the run of play. "We've got the Mickey Mouse referee doing nothing. He's made an error that cost us," Kinnear said of Atkinson. "The same thing happened last week with a penalty against Manchester City." * PA Sport
