Jose Sand set for Deportivo La Coruna move

Jose Sand, Al Ain's Argentine striker, travelled to Spain yesterday for talks with Deportivo La Coruna, the Primera Liga team.

He will undergo a medical today, Deportivo announced on their website.

Sand, 30, moved to Al Ain in 2009 for a reported US$10 million (Dh36.7m) from Argentine club Lanus. He has scored 44 goals in 46 league games for the Abu Dhabi club.

However, the nine-time league champions are struggling this season and currently sit 10th in the 12-team Pro League.

Deportivo are seeking to bolster an attack that has struggled for goals this season. The are currently 14th in the Primera Liga standings with just 18 goals from 21 games - the second worst goalscoring record in the league.

Spanish striker Xisco, 24, who played for Depor before moving to Newcastle United in a £5.7 million (Dh33.4m) switch in 2008, will also have a medical today.
