QINHUANGDAO // Italy signalled their Olympic intentions as they brushed aside Honduras with goals from Sebastian Giovinco, Giuseppe Rossi in a 3-0 win. Giovinco put the Italians ahead four minutes before half-time with a powerful left-footed strike from 30 yards. Four minutes later, the Slovakian referee Damir Skomina awarded Italy a penalty after the defender Quiarol Arzu's handball in the box, and Rossi slotted the ball inside the right post just before half-time. Acquafresca then converted a second half penalty after being taken down inside the box by Hernandez to finish off the scoring. Honduras should have pulled one back late in the game, but Carlos Pavon knocked his penalty kick, the third of the game, over the bar.
