Chennai Super Kings, 181-8 in 20 overs (Suresh Raina 62, Dwayne Smith 33; Yuzvendra Chahal 3-40)

Royal Challengers Bangalore, 154-8 in 20 overs (Virat Kohli 51, David Wiese 22; Ashish Nehra 4-10)

Ashish Nehra took four wickets for just 10 runs as Chennai beat Bangalore by 27 runs in their backyard in the Indian Premier League on Wednesday. Sent in to bat, the visitors looked on course for a 200-plus total on the back of Suresh Raina’s fifty. Chennai, though, collapsed from 124 for two to 181 for eight. In the end, Nehra’s pace and precision were enough as the hosts’ chase petered out.

Warner powers Hyderabad to big victory

Sunrisers Hyderabad, 176-4 in 20 overs (David Warner 91, Shikhar Dhawan 54; Morne Morkel 2-31)

Kolkata Knight Riders, 101-4 in 12 overs, revised target 118 (Robin Uthappa 34, Manish Pandey 33 not out; Ravi Bopara 1-7)

Rain, a Duckworth-Lewis situation, wet outfield and dropped catches failed to deter Hyderabad to their second win this season when they edged past Kolkata at Visakhapatnam on Wednesday. David Warner (91) played a captain’s knock before the medium pace of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Praveen Kumar gave away just 21 runs in last three overs to restrict Kolkata.
