Eoin Morgan is set to miss the World Cup because of a broken finger and will be replaced in England's 15-man squad by Ravi Bopara.
"Eoin Morgan won't be going to the World Cup. He needs to be operated on. That's a serious loss," Andy Flower, the England team director, said. "But Ravi Bopara, who is an exciting young cricketer in his own right, will be joining us."
One of England's key limited-overs players, Morgan fractured the middle finger of his left hand on the team's tour to Australia.
England are already without several key players because of injury, just two weeks ahead of their World Cup opener against the Netherlands in Nagpur.
