Henric Sturehed completed his stunning week at Al Zorah Golf Club in Ajman by winning the season-ending Mena Tour Championship by nine shots yesterday.
After shooting a course record 63 in the second round, Sturehed never looked back and entered the final round with a comfortable seven shot lead.
A closing round of 69 ensured the Swede ended the tournament on 21-under par, leaving the rest of the field in the distance to win his first Mena Tour title.
Jake Shepherd claimed the runner-up spot after a bogey free 66 saw him end on 12-under par, two clear of fellow Englishmen Andrew Marshall and Adam Sagar.
“Absolutely delighted with my first win on the Mena Tour," Sturehed said. "It was nice to string together all four rounds under par and finally get the job done after being in contention for a couple of times. I felt really comfortable out there, like I was in control of my game.
"It was my first season on the Mena Tour and I really enjoyed the whole experience. There are many good players out there and it was fun competing with them.
“I have made many new good friends and hope to return next year to join in the fun."
Englishman Jamie Elson shot a level par 72 in his final round to join compatriots Joe Heraty and Luke Joy in a three-way tie for fifth on nine-under par. That result was enough to earn Elson the Mena Tour Order of Merit title ahead of Sturehed. Joy completed the top three.
Todd Clements won the Mena Tour's leading amateur title for the sixth time in a row after his final round 68 ensured he was five-under par for the tournament.
The top three in the Order of Merit and the leading amateur have all received invites to compete at the European Tour's 2018 Omega Dubai Desert Classic.

Guide to intelligent investing
Investing success often hinges on discipline and perspective. As markets fluctuate, remember these guiding principles:
- Stay invested: Time in the market, not timing the market, is critical to long-term gains.
- Rational thinking: Breathe and avoid emotional decision-making; let logic and planning guide your actions.
- Strategic patience: Understand why you’re investing and allow time for your strategies to unfold.
