Getzlaf tallies four points as Ducks win seventh straight

Ducks 6, Stars 3

Five consecutive goals by the Anaheim Ducks rallied them past the Dallas Stars in a rough-and-tumble affair.

Corey Perry scored twice and Ryan Getzlaf had a goal and three assists as the Ducks (7-1-0) won their seventh in a row and dropped the Stars (3-5-0) to their fourth loss in the last five outings.

The two teams combined for 50 minutes of penalties, capped by Anaheim’s Francois Beauchemin and Brenden Dillon dropping the gloves late in the contest.

Emerson Etem scored his first career short-handed goal, fielding a pass from just outside the crease from Andrew Cogliano, which turned out to be the difference as he hammered a shot past Stars goalie Jack Campbell for a 4-3 lead with 1:05 left in the second.

Getzlaf and Mathieu Perreault added goals in the final period.

Predators 3, Jets 1

The Nashville Predators followed up their 2-1 victory over the Montreal Canadiens at the Bell Centre on Saturday evening with an opportunistic win over the Winnipeg Jets.

Eric Nystrom, Patrick Hornqvist and Matt Cullen all scored during the second period where Nashville grabbed a 3-0 advantage.

Despite having just seven shots in the second period, the Predators found the twine behind Jets goalie Ondrej Pavelec with a shooting percentage of 43 percent and were never really threatened the rest of the way.

With the win, the Predators improve to 5-3-1, while the Jets fall to 4-5-0.

Blue Jackets 3, Canucks 1

RJ Umberger scored his first goal of the season at 11:14 of the third period, and the Blue Jackets snapped a four-game losing streak with a victory over the Vancouver Canucks.

Marian Gaborik and Ryan Johansen also scored for the Blue Jackets (3-5-0). Columbus earned its first home victory of the season.

Johansen’s second goal of the season, an empty-netter with 27 seconds remaining, capped the scoring.

The Canucks (5-4-1) looked tired and lethargic in the fourth game of a seven-game road trip. Henrik Sedin scored Vancouver’s only goal.
