Wayne Rooney has long silenced the critics who suggested his move to Major League Soccer would not work out. When the former Manchester United and England forward moved to DC United last year, the club were bottom of the Eastern Conference. He then led their transformation, guiding the capital team to the playoffs. This season, DC United are third in the table, helped in no small part by their captain Rooney, who has scored eight goals this campaign, with his latest finish the most spectacular so far. In the 10th minute of DC's game against Orlando City, Rooney turned 10 yards inside his own half, looked up and let fly with a shot that sailed over Orlando goalkeeper Brian Rowe, who was caught well off his line. It proved the only goal of the game at Audi Field and you can watch it here: Rooney is the joint-fourth top goalscorer in the MLS this season alongside former United teammate Nani, who plays for Orlando and therefore had a front row seat for Rooney's wondergoal.
